While most college students can’t wait to toss their cares aside and dive into a week of Spring Break relaxation, several students across the nation give their time off to the cause of ministering to their peers at Beach Reach in Panama City Beach, Fla. If you’ve never been, you’re probably wondering what it’s all about. So here’s a brief explanation of what you’ll experience as a Beach Reacher.
WHAT IS BEACH REACH?
In one word, Beach Reach is about Jesus. It’s about showing His love and sharing His gospel to thousands of college Spring Breakers who arrive at the beach with one purpose: to party. Beach Reachers get the opportunity to minister to Spring Breakers in a non-threatening yet urgent manner.
FREE VAN RIDES
Beach Reachers provide free rides for Spring Breakers into the wee hours of the morning. Each group names and decorates their van or mini bus to be recognizeable to Spring Breakers.
FREE PANCAKES
Each morning of Beach Reach, attendees get the opportunity to serve Spring Breakers free pancakes-a-plenty and have one-on-one conversations at a local recreational center conveniently located along Panama City’s main drag. (Bonus: You get to enjoy the pancakes, too!)
SPIRITUAL PREPARATION
Beach Reachers gather each evening to spiritually prepare for the individual and group encounters they’ll have throughout the night. Attendees experience a time of corporate worship and teaching from the week’s guest band and speaker.
NIGHTLY PRAYER FEED
Beach Reachers also get the opportunity to serve throughout the week in a corporate prayer room, where prayer requests are streamed in via text message while fellow attendees are out giving van rides. This is where a lot first-time decisions to accept Christ are made visible.
COMMAND CENTER CENTRAL
Beach Reachers also have the opportunity to serve in the command center where Spring Breakers are calling in for van rides. (Extra patience and a good listening ear are a must for those in the command center.)
STREET TEAMS
Beach Reachers who work on street teams have the opportunity to casually walk along Panama City’s strip each evening to prayer walk and look for ways to minister to Spring Breakers in need.
FREE TIME
So you’re probably wondering, Is there time to rest, relax, and enjoy the beach? And the answer is yes! Beach Reachers have afternoons free to nap, relax on the beach, and discover the sights and attractions of Panama City.
