As a former business professor, l’ll let you in on a little secret: Professors get just as excited about the start of a new semester as you do. Sure, there’s always a grumpy teacher in the mix, but the majority of us have big plans for the upcoming year. We have new teaching techniques to try. We’ve written new material. And we have many new students to meet. We, too, even buy new school supplies and dream big.
So, how can we teachers and students alike prepare ourselves for what God has in store for us in the upcoming school year? We can make sure we have all the right tools for the year. Check out the list below to see if you’re missing anything:
Ruler
Use it to measure friendships and relationships, both godly and negative influences.
Book
Do you have your quiet time scheduled for this semester? For accountability, tell a friend what you’ve decided and ask him or her to hold you to it.
Protractor
What direction are you headed this year? What are your goals?
Calculator
It’s important to decide what your budget will be. How much will you have for leisure spending, and how much will you have for missions?
Notebook & Pen
Maybe journaling will be something you try this year? Or how about a roommate prayer journal?
So whether you’re a freshman or a senior, be prepared for a successful year. Pray and ask God to be with you in all the details so that you can have the education necessary to serve Him well. Godspeed!
