When the Baptist Collegiate Ministry Network (BCNet) was first organized in 2000, one of the first issues tackled was the obvious need in the Baptist family for a professional training event for people working in Collegiate Ministry. Requests came to the leadership committee of BCNet from all across the country for opportunities to help collegiate ministers and volunteers be more effective and efficient in reaching and discipling students and connecting them to the local church. It had been more than 15 years since an event like this had taken place, and it was already apparent that we were facing a new generation of students with changing needs, values, and spiritual concerns. Our leadership committee, with the support of Lifeway, NAMB, and the IMB, went to work to put together a first-class training event—Collegiate Summit.
We are now embarking on our fourth Collegiate Summit, which is scheduled for May 2-4, 2012 at Lifeway in Nashville, Tennessee. We have learned a lot over the years about what collegiate ministers need to help them excel on their campuses, and I believe this year’s event will be our best yet. We’ve planned a line-up of great speakers, worship, mega seminars, peer-led seminars, and plenty of fun and fellowship. We’re even offering early bird seminars beginning on May 2nd at 2 p.m. At Collegiate Summit, you’ll receive helpful information on almost every issue related to collegiate ministry. From church planting, to evangelism, to missions, to helps for collegiate church workers, there will be something for everyone!
I hope you’ll make plans now to attend, and to invite campus leaders, volunteer church workers, and anyone else who has a heart for reaching college students. This is a unique training opportunity for our collegiate ministry family, and we sincerely hope you’ll join us!
